It is now two days before our trip to Alaska to board the beautful Sapphire Princess. Weather checks in Anchorage calls for highs in the upper 50's with clouds and rain. Sounds very Alaska like.

This is our second trip to America's outback and we are very excited.  This time we are leading a small group of 9 adventurers some who are visiting this area for the very first time.

Many people ask us "what types of clothing do you bring to Alaska?" Here are some suggestions:

    1. Always bring layers of clothes. This time of year you can expect to have temperatures in a range from the 30's to the 60's so wearing layers allows us to adjust to the temperature of the day.

    2. Bring rain gear. August is typically rainy in Alaska. A poncho works great so again it can be a layer over your other clothing plus it will repel the rain. I would also suggest a small carry unbrella.

    3. Gloves and hats are certainly in order.

    4.  A change of shoes. This may sound obvious but if you get wet your shoes will too. You don't want to be stranded aboard while your shoes dry out.  Plus make sure they are warm shoes (not light weight sneakers) and lots of warm socks.

    5. Don't forget your camera and lots of film and memory. Alaska is truely the place for pictures whether you do snapshots or serious DSLR photography.

Well it is back to packing. More to come. Check back oftern.
